Democracy and Constitutional Justice (Panel Moved Online)

This panel has been moved online.

The Ecuadorian Constitutional Court is not only the organ for the constitutional control in the country, but also is the key that support and preserve the democratic system. This panel is supposed to ponder some crucial topics on the jurisprudence of this relevant Court related with democracy and political system: (1) The Ecuadorian Court‘s attribution to declare related legal norms unconstitutional as a case of cross fertilization between models of constitutional review – (2) Arbitration, challenge of arbitral awards, constitutional control, current state of constitutional jurisprudence – (3) Constitutional Control on State of Emergency during Covid-19 – and (4) relation between constitutional justice and pathologies of democracy.
