The Future of Football

There is increasing dissatisfaction with how the world of football operates. Corruption scandals, human rights abuses, and initiatives like the European Super League have received a lot of backlash from fans, players, and clubs. At the same time, and as a result of this, there is a growing appetite and need for reflection on the state of football. Over the past year alone, we have seen government proposals for regulating the sport in the UK, resolutions of the European Parliament and Council, as well as a European Citizens‘ Initiative calling on the EU to protect the ‘European Model of Football‘. This panel will discuss some of the most pressing issues that football is currently facing and make proposals on aspects of governance, regulation, equality, and fan representation.
