The EU’s Role in the Protection of Minorities
Non-discrimination sits high on the agenda of the European Union’s action. The papers in this panel will explore the EU’s role in two situations: free movement of LGBT+ families in the EU and situations of religious discrimination in schools or in the workplace. The overlap of all four presentation is found in the genuine search for the EU’s role – what can the EU do to fight the existing discrimination, what has it done already, and what more could it do without stretching its competences beyond the conferred areas? (Our panel is open to welcome one or two more persons who wish to present a paper which would fit the topic.)
