Focus groups discussions in selected countries examined, inter alia, public perceptions of legitimacy and trust held towards public institutions, including the Courts. This panel will also consider traditional conceptions of the separation of powers and how these theories may or may not apply in practice in contemporary nation states. Finally, the panel will present on the methodological approaches, lessons learned, and obstacles faced in using focus groups as a research method in law.
