Global Pandemic Network. Pandemics and Global Law
Pandemics and Global Law. How Pandemics drive global law and how global law can be a valuable tool to prevent the risk of future pandemics and manage emergencies. The topic will be discussed first by examining a project of the University of Trento supported by the WHO and in which the GPN collaborates, of global monitoring of pandemic litigation. Then, proposals for a new global treaty on pandemics will be examined and, in particular, the draft convention advanced by CIDCE (International Center for Comparative Environmental Law) in collaboration with the Normandy Chair for Peace and the GPN will be presented. The relevance of digital platforms in pandemic management and their legal order will be discussed. Another topic that will be addressed is the importance of international research for pandemic response. Finally, the issue of how pandemic pushes cities towards uniform standards, contributing to the globalization of urban law, will be examined.
