SUMMARY:What Makes a Good Constitution?
DESCRIPTION:The achievements and tribulations of the Chilean constitution-making process put the question what makes a good constitution. Obviously all countries want to have the best possible constitution for their societies\, still one may witness that constitutions do not always function properly. Is it the fault of the constitution? What can constitutions do in order to guarantee public peace\, human rights and to avoid misusing power? Participants of the panel have various experience of constitutions. The challenges of Georgia\, Poland\, Hungary\, France and Chile are rather different\, still they have a lot in common. Pannellists analyse the factors that can raise the quality of the constitution\, considering both the constitution-making process and the content of the constitution.
