SUMMARY:The Regulation of AI Systems: Multidisciplinary Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:The regulation of Artificial Intelligence is currently under discussion in multiple jurisdictions. This panel engages with this discussion by offering multidisciplinary perspectives on the regulation of AI. On the one hand\, the panel discusses novel legal perspectives drawing on the Artificial Intelligence Act proposal. This panel discusses how to safeguard human agency in high-risk AI applications in the public sector (Enqvist) and how the principle of proportionality can be viewed as a possible solution to unresolved problems pertaining to the tensions among principles in various ethical frameworks for AI (Karliuk). On the other\, this panel goes beyond existing legal discussions\, discussing the use of a law and economics to the regulation of automated driving (Fteiha) and drawing on digital humanities and management literature to challenge traditional approaches including transparency obligations (Ranchordas/Varosanec).
