SUMMARY:Neurorights: new human rights? (Spanish/ Portuguese)
DESCRIPTION:Neuroscience has been developing at an extraordinarily fast pace\, offering countless benefits to humanity\, which are enhanced when associated with artificial intelligence. However\, these advances also raise questions about how they affect brain functions\, given that they are capable\, for example\, of altering human behavior itself. Given this\, in 2017\, Ienca and Andorno defended the need to redefine human rights. In 2019\, Yuste proposed five new human neurorights: personal identity – free will – mental privacy – equitable access and protection against algorithmic bias. There are\, however\, authors\, such as Borbón\, who believe that such an initiative is still premature. In this context\, this panel aims to discuss the need to create or not new human rights in the face of vertiginous advances in neuroscience\, but in the absence of an in-depth academic debate.
