SUMMARY:High Courts and Women‘s Rights
DESCRIPTION:The panel aims to offer an overview at the main contributions on women’s rights delivered by 5 different high courts. We intend to provide a comparative and diverse perspective through contributions highlighting the relevant case law from the Supreme Court of the United States\, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights\, the Spanish Constitutional Court\, the European Court of Human Rigts\, the Spanish Constitutional Court and the Australian High Court. These courts belong to different legal traditions\, cultures\, and may endorse different values\, what makes it very interesting to show their approaches to a sensitive issue such as the rights of women. Most probable\, we will find contrasting reasonings and scopes\, conditioned by their unsimilar backgrounds – however\, we would like to detect similarities\, when existing\, and cross-fertilizations among them. At the end of the day\, we could find the minimum common standards on women‘s rights shared by the studied jurisdictions.
