SUMMARY:From territory to temporality: constitutional thinking and time
DESCRIPTION:There is shift from territory to temporality in constitutional debates these days. Whether you think of the legacies of colonialism\, post-X constitutionalism\, memory laws or constitutonial means to deal with the dystopian outlook of climate change or pandemics: the temporal dimension of constitutional thinking is evident. Our panel will interrogate different dimensions of this trend. It will analyse long-termism as a (possibly) new paradigm emerging from Silicon Valley\, the role of historical memory in the construction of political identity in the European Union and its Member States\, memory laws as symptoms of populist developments in Poland and the interplay of liberal constitutionalism and decolonial thinking regarding temporality. The general idea is to ponder the role of temporality in public law discourses across the globe and in their broader philosophical and theoretical terms.
