SUMMARY:Constitutionalism and Time
DESCRIPTION:Time is a relatively unexplored dimension of constitutionalism. Constitutions develop over time\, but the implications of such development are not obvious. For example\, establishing the beginning and the end of a constitution is of crucial importance\, because identifying the origin of a constitution may provide elements to assess or contest its legitimacy\, depend on one‘s perspective. Moreover\, forms of constitutionalism can be distinguished according to their configuration of time. This panel aims to discuss the relationship between time and constitutionalism either from a theoretical perspective\, or with a focus on case studies\, including environmental constitutionalism and digital constitutionalism. Papers will look at the relationship between past and future\, temporality and normativity and the relevance of time for contemporary liberal democracy.
