DESCRIPTION:(Panel canceled) \nWe investigate space-law relationships with an interdisciplinary approach of public and civil law and geography. Our core question is how collective claims and practices of socio-spatial and ecological justice can provide innovative and enforceable legal agencies. Commons is our key concept to demonstrate that shared uses of a resource can create new institutional arrangements (Ostrom 1990) and democratic processes. We adopt the framework of scales of commonality\, developed by a French research mapping the common dimension already existing in several legal institutions also regarding territorial resources. We assume commonality when a destination to a common interest and an inclusive right to access\, use or participate in governing a thing can be legitimately claimed. Through this lens\, we study the collective enforcement of environmental protection\, understood extensively: beyond the predominant ‘natural’ milieu we especially address urban\, peri-urban\, and rural complex environments.
