SUMMARY:Challenges of data protection in the digital age
DESCRIPTION:The digital revolution is not only fascinating but also challenging for data privacy\, equality\, and other fundamental values. This panel will delve on many relevant subjects of data protection. The Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988 recently included trough a constitutional amendment (Nr. 115/2022) an autonomous fundamental right to the protection of personal data. On the other side of the Atlantic\, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled on international data transfers (Schrems II). How should data protection be conceptualized in the context of an overarching information and Internet law? At the same time\, the danger of discrimination by algorithms challenges present societies and their legal responses.
