SUMMARY:Book launch: “Judicial Review of Administration in Europe. Procedural Fairness and Propriety“ (G della Cananea & M Andenas eds.\, OUP\, 2021)
DESCRIPTION:Judicial review is an essential check on administrative action\, within liberal democracies\, where it works as a shield against arbitrary or overly intrusive bureaucratic conduct. However\, in the past\, many have regarded this as dividing European legal orders\, depending on whether judicial review was exercised by the general courts or specialized administrative courts. This panel is meant to provide an in dept discussion of the main research achievements contained in “Judicial Review of Administration in Europe“ (OUP – 2021)\, a comparative study focusing on the standards of procedural fairness and propriety which are defined and refined by the courts. The purpose is to ascertain whether\, between European legal systems of judicial review\, there are not only differences\, but also common and connecting elements. For a better understanding of the common elements\, attention is devoted also to other legal\, such as China and Latin America.
