SUMMARY:Beyond the Republican Revival. Analyzing Eric Ghosh‘s democratic perspective
DESCRIPTION:The panel will discuss in detail the conceptual and normative arguments employed by Prof Eric Ghosh in his most recent book\, entitled Beyond the Republican Revival. Non-Domination\, Positive Liberty and Sortition (Hart\, 2020). In doing so\, the panelists will: a) reconstruct the different republican conceptions\, approaches\, or perspectives presented in the referred book – b) contrast Eric Ghosh‘s citizens‘ court proposal with the constitutional review design supported by other republicans like Philip Pettit\, Richard Bellamy and Tom Hickey – and c) sketch some constructive and critical arguments directed towards Eric Ghosh‘s interpretation of the republican tradition.
